Our new apprentice Ethan started working with us at the start of January, here are his thoughts on working at TwoPointZero so far.
I started working at TwoPointZero at the beginning of the year as an Apprentice IT Technician. Before this I did a BTEC Diploma in IT at Suffolk New College.
I’ve always wanted to work in IT and I’ve really enjoyed my new job so far. This month, I’ve been meeting all the customers who are all really friendly and supportive, I’ve been learning about all the systems like the Remote Monitoring software and have been doing everything from building and repairing PCs to solving problems on servers.
On a normal day, I check on the monitoring software when I first get in to see if there are any problems on any of our customers networks, I then go through these with Alex and fix any problems we find.
When I’m in the office, I answer the phones and help customers with IT problems either on the phone or using our remote control software.
I’ve been to a lot of our customers sites now, I’ve done some cabling, worked on some servers and installed some PCs and wireless access points. It’s been really interesting to learn about how computers work in businesses, with servers and domains and things like that.
We’ve also done some fun team building things, we went to the AutoSport International show in Birmingham to see one of our customers and make sure an interactive touch screen we supplied them was working properly and today we all went out for breakfast.
We have lots of visitors at the TwoPointZero offices like Suzanne the business coach and Paul who we do some work with. It’s great to meet all these people and they’ve all been really supportive and helpful.
I’ve also started working on my NVQ with Steve from WS Training and have already completed my first assignments for this.
It’s been great so far and I have learnt many things since I have started here at TwoPointZero, it has been a great experience so far
